Road Trip! We packed up and drove to North Carolina for the weekend!  We left the house at 8:30 pm.  Drove to Target, got some Starbucks, diapers and formula.   And off we drove into the night.  Mariella did well.  We stopped a few times for her to get out, burp, change diaper an repeat.  Friday we had Darlene’s shrimp and crab stew…. ummmmm I am drooling just thinking about it!  :-)   Mariella got to meet some doggie friends for the first time!  And she got to meet her Aunt Darlene too!  She spent time with her Nanny, Parran and MeMaw.  :-)   It was a great weekend!  We were Packing up Sunday to leave, and Pat said he would come pick me up next weekend if I wanted to stay.  I was like Heck Yeah I wanna stay!  I didn’t even think about staying or planning to stay.    Mariella was comfortable, she had a crib and this amazing activity center we picked up from a neighbors garage sale for 10 bucks!

I had a wonderful visit.  It went by fast!  Mariella was showered with presents too!  She is so loved!  :-)  The only bummer the entire trip is that her Parran got sick and for the last several days he had to stay his distance from her.  And on Saturday when Pat came to pick us up… we decided to travel back that day (instead of Sunday) and her Parran didn’t get to kiss and hug her bye.   :-(  But we will go back soon!

We were so happy to have visitors this weekend!

Finally, someone else gets to see Mariella and all of her cuteness!  :-)  Gordon, Lynette and Riplee came to visit us.  It was so nice to have them here, I wish they could have stayed a couple/few weeks with us.

We all went out to eat at a real restaurant! lol  It was the first time me, Pat and Mariella went out to a restaurant.  We decided to go chow down at the Outback!  I have to admit, I was a nervous wreck taking her out into the world.  Where people want to ohh and ahh over babies.   Cough without covering there mouth.  Sneeze…  OMG, I hate the sneezing.  Chew with their mouth open.

Not only did the germs freak me out.  The unpredictable behavior of a baby was freaking me out too.     So many “what ifs” in my head.  What if she cries.  What if she throws a FIT!  What if she has rocket poo at the table?  What if I can’t calm her.  What if she wants some of my steak?  :-)  You get the idea…  hahahaaa    Well, she was a perfect little Angel.  She drank her bottle at the table.  I burped her… and she took a cat nap in the car seat.   After about 20/30 minutes she woke up and just looked around and joined in on the fun.   Phew…   life goes on with baby after all!

I got to drink a some Guinness this weekend and enjoy some whiskey too.   I decided to start weening baby of of the breast, and figured it would be a good time to skip a few feedings.   So I did.  And I really had a wonderful time hanging out with the family.

Uncle Gordon came to visit Wee Baby this weekend! His plan was to stay a couple days and babysit Mariella on Saturday so Pat and I can get dressed up and head to the yearly company gala.  I was really looking forward to getting out the house.  Wearing shoes and putting on some lip gloss would have been fun.  But to be honest, wanting to go and actually leaving was two totally different things.   When the time came upon us..  I didn’t want to go.  I wasn’t ready to leave my Wee Baby for the evening.

She would have been in wonderful hands with her Uncle G$.  Gordon is an amazing father and had his fair share of watching kids.  But I was not emotionally ready to part from her.  It is weird because I want some me time.  I want to break away for a few hours and take some time for Mommy, but I miss her when I am gone.  I went to Target for a couple few hours while Pat and Gordon kept her.  I think I called 5 times to see how things were going.  Just couldn’t help myself.

Anyway, Gordon understood.  He didn’t come down on me for making him come all the way to Maryland to babysit and come to find out he didn’t have too.   He is a good brother like that!  Thanks so much Gordon!  It was really fun having you visit and I know Mariella enjoyed your company!

Thanks for coming to visit mom!  So happy Mariella has been able to spend some time with you.  I think it calms her knowing there is an experienced mom in the house! 

It is a winter wonder land outside!  We have lots and lots of snow out there, and to celebrate Mariella’s first snow blizzard we went outside for 15 seconds to take our first family photo!  I can’t believe she is 16 days old, and this is the first time all three of us take a family photo together.    We bundled Mariella up and she was so cozy and warm!  When we first got outside she was looking up and around.  She was excited to go outside in the snow for this short little adventure.  And so were Daddy and Mommy!

Pat and I received the best Christmas present….  and her name is Mariella.  

Mariella was so calm and happy as we all were walking down the hallway and down the 2 flights of stairs to get outside….   I think she knew we were going to do something really special!  So sweet….   So sweet…     she enjoyed the few snowflakes that touched her face….   she was simply adorable!

We stayed home today ~  and did what a new mom and baby would do ~

Well today, I got her all dressed up and we were going to go walk the hallways in the building…..  BUT  right when we were fixing to leave, a poo poo diaper…..  then she decided she wanted to eat again, and by the time she finished eating, she was tired and fell asleep!  So we didn’t get to go walking today… maybe tomorrow!

Paw Paw Huey is here!  I am so happy that my dad was able to come up and visit…  this is his first grandchild in over 21 years!   :-)  Mariella was all calm and cozy hanging out with Paw Paw.

Today we went for Mariella’s first visit with her pediatrician.   We were able to head out the door in a much timely manner than yesterday!  lol Her appointment went great. Things checked out lovely, her weight is back up, her little bit of jaundice is clearing up, her hips are fine, everything is just peachy and we go back next Wednesday for her 2 week checkup. 

Faith is the Nanny and Eban is the Parran!

I am very happy both said “yes” to be the Godparents. I know they will always be there for Wee Baby Girl. When Wee Baby Girl is upset and wants to run away from home, I suspect she will call NANNY! Mommy won’t let me eat cookies for dinner! and PARRAN! Daddy won’t let me play in the dirt. and guess what, Faith and Eban will let her eat cookies while playing in the dirt! LOL

Thank you Faith and Eban! I know you will love her to pieces and will support her throughout her life. Pat and I are honored that you accepted to be Wee Baby Girl’s Godparents.
